Biography

Rick brings almost 40 years of legal experience, much of which was spent as a partner in prominent law firms where he represented individuals, businesses, financial institutions, government agencies, and healthcare providers. His practice has included significant work in employment law, construction law, business matters, and complex litigation. He has also advocated for individuals and churches in religious liberty and First Amendment cases before federal courts.

In 2013, Rick transitioned into executive leadership as CEO of a healthcare organization in the Upstate, a role he held until late 2016. The following year, he relocated his practice from Greenville to his hometown of Seneca, South Carolina.

Today, Rick serves as the Managing Member of Merrell & McDuff. His deep legal knowledge and diverse background allow him to offer clients thoughtful, strategic counsel across a wide range of legal matters.
